Cookie Policy
Last updated: 11 October 2026
This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies, such as local storage, that The Gold Metrics uses on thegoldmetrics.com and app.thegoldmetrics.com: what each one does, how long it lasts, and how you can control it. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser so it can remember something between pages or visits, such as that you are signed in. Local storage and session storage do a similar job inside the browser. In this policy, “cookies” covers all three.
Strictly necessary
The site cannot work without these, so they cannot be switched off here. They are used only to sign you in and keep you signed in.
tgm-authKeeps you signed in, and lets the website and the app at app.thegoldmetrics.com share one sign-in. Large sessions are split into tgm-auth.0, tgm-auth.1 and so on.
- Set by
- Us (sign-in is run by Supabase)
- Lasts
- Up to 400 days, or until you sign out
tgm-auth-code-verifierProtects Google sign-in against tampering while it completes.
- Set by
- Us (Supabase)
- Lasts
- Removed once sign-in completes
Preferences
These remember choices you make, so you do not have to make them again on every visit.
tgm-currencyRemembers the currency you chose for prices. Only set when you pick one; if you are signed in, the choice is also saved to your account.

tgm-themeRemembers whether you chose Light, Dark or Match device. Only set when you choose.

Analytics
These help us understand how the site is used so we can fix problems and improve it. They are not used for advertising.
ph_<project key>_posthog (local storage)A random identifier that lets us count visits and pages viewed, measure performance, and replay sessions to see where the site is confusing or broken. Text you type into form fields is hidden from replays. A short-lived entry in session storage tells browser tabs apart.
- Set by
- PostHog, on our behalf
- Lasts
- Until you clear it or turn analytics off
What we do not use
We do not use advertising cookies, we do not let ad networks track you on our site, and we do not sell your information.
Your location
Before you choose a currency, we pick one from the country your internet connection comes from, which our hosting provider (Vercel) tells us with each request. This is not a cookie, and we do not store it.
Other websites
When you sign in with Google, Google may set cookies on its own websites under its own policies. The same applies when you follow a link to our social media pages. We do not control those cookies.
Your choices
- Turn analytics off for this browser with the switch above.
- Delete or block cookies and site data in your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop you signing in.
- Signing out removes the sign-in cookie.
Changes to this policy
When the cookies we use change, we will update this page and the date at the top.
